THE SCHMITT FARM
A HOUSE IN THE GREAT ALSACIAN TRADITION
We met the breeders of Ferme Schmitt in 2017. This beautiful farm is located in the heart of the Alsatian soil. It continues a family tradition but also regional with a strong identity and the declared claim to produce short circuit. The goose and the duck are the true "Stars" of this farm very anchored in the Alsatian tradition.
For almost 50 years Schmitt has been raising poultry and producing cereals. The productions from the duck, goose and chicken of Alsace enter the specifications "Welcome to the Farm - Products of the Farm", the logo to the flower that guarantees you the farm origin of the products.
In addition, the Farm belongs to the association of producers of foie gras of the farms of Alsace, to the sweet name of "Gänzeliesel", in other words Lise the guardian of geese, character emblematic of the Alsatian imagination. The respect of the specifications of breeding and gavage of the association allows to display the logo "Idée Alsace - Terroir d'Origine Garanti".
27 HECTARES OF POULTRY AND CEREALS
POULTRY FOOD WITH FARM CEREALS
The farm currently has 27 hectares of cereals. Equipped with an on-farm food factory, Ferme Schmitt fed poultry with their own wheat, corn and soy foods guaranteed to be non-GM and mineral. Each year, only 1500 geese, 13000 ducks and 1500 black hens from Alsace grow here.
